I love concerts. I always have. Back in the day it was simple to bring a camera but not so much anymore. So I jumped at the opportunity Trish Cassling gave me to shoot for "thereviewsarein" - a blog started by Joshua Murray. Our first gig together was shooting Joe Perry's School of Rock. And then Josh asked me to shoot the TURF festival. It was fun and hard work at the same time. The more fun I had shooting, the more work it would become at editing time - which immediately followed the gig (from midnight till 4am). I'll figure out the balance eventually I hope. Aside from the bands themselves I enjoy photographing what happens all around. One of my favourites here is the Indie88 radio station guy wearing an instagram placard (the last image below). He glances toward the foreground couple huddled around their phone. To me these elements together create an interesting and humorous irony.
First you need a movie poster. Then go ahead and make your own movie… or, not. Take down that framed portrait of the lovely couple surrounded by flowers in an archway, and hang up your own stylized movie poster! Bring in the cool factor. Be the star of your own genre.
We created a nasty scar for Goran's face to make him look even more rugged.
Or perhaps you are more musically inclined?…
We can create images that represent what you are doing in your parallel life - in which you are who you want to be. Wouldn't it be super cool to create a poster and bring it to life in the here and now? It's a fabulous talk piece that captures a very personal side of you. It will remind you of who you are and will easily inspire others.
High Park (Toronto) is known for many wonderful things - yet did you know that they have 30 teams playing baseball? And they play all of their house league games inside High Park.
They also have rep teams for each age division which travel to tournaments across Ontario. The 12 year old boys actually have the unique opportunity to compete their way to the "Little League World Series" in Williamsport, PA. USA.
These photos are of our senior tball select team after wrapping up their weekend tournaments. We started the tournaments in Erindale, played as well in Ancaster, and ended the season in Dundas, Ontario eliminating all our Ontario rivals until the two last teams standing were both from High Park. And so we battled each other in the final Championship game.
I coached these kids on the bases and then coached them into these timeless photos. After each tournament we documented it with these shots. It was a fabulous season for all of us. Baseball is so much fun, you just don't want the summer to come to an end. Luckily it comes back every year for another season!
